Meeting Notes

January 15, 2008

The following individuals met via teleconference for the purpose of forming a new state OHV organization:

A roundtable discussion on the following items took place

Financial Report-Current balance is $4653. Expenses paid since last meeting,

Jeff Fredette $175 for Chicago conference

Membership Report-117 members to date, Jimi should have memberships letters out this week 

Trail Conference Chicago – Jeff attended and gathered information in re to NOVACC, liability laws, and their resources. The NOVACC national meeting is to be held in Arizona in March. They are looking for representation from Illinois and have volunteered to pay expenses for Jeff to attend conference

Greenways and Trails council – They have requested representation from our group at their meetings.  Jimi will attend on January 16 in Springfield.  We agreed to pay her expenses for this.  

Website-  Jimi to email letter to Vincent Paul to add to website.  Also, need to add ABATE link to site.  Jimi will post the winner of  the winch on the website.  UPS to the them

Brochures –Jeff emailed Steve for a PDF of brochure.  Jimi to call Steve to try to get brochures for ABATE meeting this weekend

Legislative update-Clinton County is trying to get the roads opened to OHV’s.  Annual meeting is this weekend.  ABATE is in the process of working with Jack Price on wording protection for the parks liability.  There was a County meeting last Tuesday in Woodford in regard to banning OHV’s. 

Motorcycle Safety Training, Dirtbike School-

Currently have Jeff Fredette and Ryan Moss in the North, Dave Little and Mike Friedeline in the South.  Dan, Chicago, Hunter, Peoria, Todd Darr, Travis Merrill, Quincy. John Carr, Mt. Carmel.  Lance to check on funding for this as this is a reimbursement grant

Chicago bike show Feb 8,9,10 Dan and Jeff to attend
